My Journey in Aquarium Keeping

I am Chloe Adams, and for the last 11 years, aquariums have been a valuable part of my experience and knowledge. Throughout this period I have gained the understanding of the basics of setting up an aquarium along with all the minor details that create a stable environment for fish.

Aquarium keeping seems easy from the outside. You take a tank, fill it with water, and place some fish. However, when you start doing this, the reality strikes, and you discover that fishkeeping is much more complicated. Tank size, water condition, filtration, cycling, feeding, compatibility, stocking, cleaning, and maintenance all affect the fishkeeping process.

This ability to learn something new is one of the main reasons I love writing about aquariums now.

During those years I got especially interested in the questions beginners ask when they set up their first aquarium. Most beginner aquarists are exposed to a big amount of information at once, and technical language may turn the interest into frustration, making an easy hobby appear complicated.

The way that I write and the aquarium knowledge that I possess really emphasizes the topics that are crucial for successful fishkeeping for beginners.

My Approach to Aquarium Advice

Being in the aquarium keeping area for over 11 years, I am still convinced that good advice must always be clear to the user.

I don’t want my readers to finish reading the article having more questions than they did before checking out my text. My goal is to clarify topics that can seem very complicated in a simple language that can be understood by a first-time aquarium owner.

I do not portray fishkeeping as a hobby where a single solution is good enough for every aquarium. The size of the tank, type of fish, type of equipment used, level of fish stocking, the quality of water, and the context may be relevant for the proper solution.

That is why I encourage readers to learn about their own aquarium instead of simply copying another person’s aquarium.

Research is equally important. Before one gets a fish or makes a major change in the aquarium, fishkeepers should research the needs of that particular type of fish or setup. This small effort will save a lot of trouble for a beginner.

Why I Write for Aquarium Beginners

I remember how much one needs to learn and understand when starting with aquariums; therefore, educating beginners about fishkeeping remains one of my top priorities.

Upon proper planning, aquariums can be very interesting to watch and interesting to maintain. However, beginners should not have to learn everything through making mistakes that are unnecessary.
